Which typing test should I choose?

Compare time commitment and practice focus
TestTimePractice focus
1 minute60 secondsA quick check or a short practice round.
3 minutes180 secondsFinding and maintaining a steady pace.
5 minutes300 secondsSustained concentration, comfort, and accuracy.

Choose a duration that fits the time and attention you have available. A longer session asks you to maintain your pace for longer; it is not automatically a better measure of every typing task.

Use the same conditions to compare progress

Each timed page offers Common words, Natural text, and Your text. You can optionally include numbers in the built-in modes; Your text is not changed. Keep the duration, mode, and Include numbers setting the same when comparing attempts. Sentence punctuation, capitals, and the difficulty of custom text can change the result.

WPM is correctly matched characters divided by five, then divided by minutes spent typing. Look at accuracy alongside speed and use the final review to spot remaining errors. A short custom passage can end early, so choose a built-in mode when you want the full selected duration.

Only have a few seconds?

The main typing speed test offers 15-, 30-, and 60-second rounds, plus Numbers mode for numeric practice. It defaults to 15 seconds.
